A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO FOOTWEAR
All Grown Up explores what can happen when children's outgrown shoes are given a second life.
Children outgrow their footwear incredibly quickly, often within just a few months. Unlike clothing, however, shoes are rarely passed on. Seeing colourful, barely worn shoes accumulate and eventually become discarded in my own home inspired me to collect and transform them.
Rather than treating these shoes as waste, I began to explore their potential as raw material — extending their life and reimagining their role within the wardrobe.
FROM CHILDREN'S SHOES TO ONE-OF-A-KIND FOOTWEAR
Each pair is created from deconstructed children's shoes and sandals, ranging from size 32 to 36. The original pattern pieces are carefully disassembled, restored, altered and reconfigured into an entirely new form.
The result is a series of vibrant, one-of-a-kind heels that retain traces of their former life while becoming something unexpected.
A familiar object, transformed into something entirely new.
A COHESIVE VISUAL LANGUAGE
While each pair is unique, the six shoes are connected through a shared approach to colour, proportion and playful transformation.
Together, they form a cohesive collection — distinct pieces that belong to the same visual world.
THE POSSIBILITY OF TRANSFORMATION
All Grown Up is an example of how an existing object, material or idea can become the starting point for something entirely new.
From discarded children's shoes to a collection of distinctive, one-of-a-kind heels, the project explores how transformation can create both individual pieces and a unified visual language.
