    ABOUT THE ARTIST

Deborah Kiwi, is a Dutch shoe artist and maker based in the vibrant city of Tel Aviv. She specializes in the design and creation of conceptual, artistic footwear. Often evoked by the political climate, this female voice redefines the architecture of shoes.

She studied Industrial Design at Shenkar College and worked in various disciplines in the field. The search for a more accountable approach to design eventually led her to footwear in 2018. Deborah immersed herself in the artisan methodology of shoemaking. With Nina Rozin as her mentor, she choose the less conventional path of conceptual shoe design.

As an extension of our body, she aims to push the boundaries of what footwear can be. Using this fascinating and diverse object to explore our relationship to gender, status and culture. Creating, often in capsule collections, unique pieces of wearable art.

    ABOUT SHOE MAKING

Training in the classic methodology of shoe making gave me a creative alternative to fast fashion. To personalize and inject footwear with the care of tailoring. Have a look at the gallery to see the ins and outs of this beautiful but fading craft.
